Microwaves are widely used for point-to-point communications because their small wavelength allows conveniently sized antennas to direct them in narrow beams, which can be pointed directly at the receiving antenna. This allows nearby microwave equipment to use the same frequencies without interfering with each other, as lower frequency radio waves do.

Timecode distribution systems
Timecode systems were developed to be used as a main source for event synchronization, applications included film making, TV broadcast, and has been extended to the utilities sector such as power generation and distribution to include instrumentation in the OIL & GAS sector. The most up to date systems derive the time code signals from a GPS source and generate the required signal protocol that the user requires such as IRIG-B, SMPTE, NEAMA, NTP etc.
In addition to its generic uses, Sigma has also developed a modular distribution system for these signals to cover oil production vessels, oil rigs, oil platforms and power generation plants. The solution allows for easy deployment with high level of scalability. Each system is tailored to the exact client requirements relative to the facility and its application.

Sigma technical services using our in-house design engineering capabilities have successfully developed a small scale system with portable display and control unit offering flexible mobility and access for the in-field operator. Our designs exploit the industry standard OPTO22 environment which offers a fully expandable modular system to encompass the different acquisition and control requirements.
